Live Your Dreams: Let Reality Catch Up

Reviewed by Olga Doi-Sprague
Live Your Dreams Let Reality Catch Up is a must-have manual for teachers, managers, therapists, and individuals wanting to exercise the principles of Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) and improve their communication outcomes.
Dr. Ellerton's presents NLP as a common-sense system of everyday psychology, one which monitors and adapts one's thinking to proven behaviors exhibited by one's audience. From eye accessing cues, sleight of mouth, to meta programs and linguistic presuppositions, Dr. Ellerton shows the reader that by getting to know yourself and others, and duplicating or modeling one's behavior to that of the target audience, outcomes can often be predicted, thus allowing communicators to more confidently achieve their goals. Complete and easy to understand, with historic reference, step-by step instructions, definitions, exercises, and strategies, Live Your Dreams, Let Reality Catch Up covers methods to: manage emotional states, break away from bad habits, focus energy, build rapport with a diverse range of people, work productively with others, and understand how other great achievers function.
By showing the reader how to monitor and adapt one's thinking, Dr. Ellerton also clearly presents NLP as a method of self-improvement, one which requires the reader to define the results wanted, examine one's behavior, and judge if one's behavior moves one closer to a desired result. With careful understanding and use of NLP, Dr. Ellerton's Live Your Dreams Let Reality Catch Up can help you cultivate more useful inner beliefs about yourself and your world.

the trojan horse - Equine art bronze sculpture
The Trojan Horse
Concealed within the sculpture's metal is a secret
born from an ancient act, the repeated touch of the artist's hand forming bronze.
Possess the several year journey, the ritual of the artist's hands: sculpting, molding, coaxing rubbing, filing, grinding and polishing the elements of clay, wax and metal to a powerful, mystical shining form.
The Trojan Horse sculpture is a sensuous display of sculpted line and flowing "liquid metal" radically defining the trojan war horse's form as a futuristic energy-filled vessel, which its viewer can secretly project.
The Trojan Horse sculpture, more an masterpiece of contemplation and meditation, can be thought to represent the sensual unknown.

What are Fonts? Concepts for On-line and Print Publications Part 1
Perhaps as old as writing, is the style we choose to express our written words.
We encounter, view and read letter images or fonts everyday. Whether on a billboard, in a newspaper, in a business card, advertisement, website or email, graphic designers vie for your attention by manipulating the fonts, the character "images or glyphs" you read.
The word font or fount has root in the Latin word fountain, and just as a fountain serves a "source" of water, so too the font serves as a source for visual information and audience reaction.
Prior to mass printing technologies, manuscripts or texts were created by hand, and the letters drawn exhibited the flourishes, tastes and motives of the person holding the writing tool. Thicknesses in letters, severeness of curves, slants, and letter spacing were manipulated for readability, decoration, and importance of message.
Over time, the variety of artistic influence in letter character styles transfered to mass printing technologies, and publishers soon had a pool of character "image" styles or fonts to apply to the published word.
Today, the font in the online and print on demand (POD) environment is still a specific design set for characters and these characters are usually but not restricted to the alphabet.
Fonts are intrinsic or crucial to "styles of presentation" of information, therefore there are many conventions or traditions followed in their application to text.
For instance, the font type or presentation of a printed news article or school essay is still, traditionally Times New Roman. Times New Roman is a font type. Words written in Times New Roman font look different and will have a different effect on the audience, then words written in another font.
The largest visible distinction between font types is the prescence or absence of a "serif". With word roots in Dutch, German and Latin, all referring to "stroke, write, or scribe," Serif refers to the inclusion of a decorative stroke to a letter that resembles a "tail"; it is the short lines stemming from and at an angle to the upper and lower ends of the strokes of a letter.
Sans-Serif - sans meaning "without" in French- means "without serif" or without the added strokes to the letter. Characters in the sans-serif font styles do not have flourishes or tails to the letter's character lines.
Distinctions between Serif and sans-serif fonts are the basis for online versus print readability. By convention, serif fonts ( fonts with additional strokes) are still preferred in print whereas san-serif fonts are encouraged by Online Accessibility advocates for all online publications. The reason for the distinction lies with the legibility of text on paper vs on the screen. Sans-serif fonts (fonts without strokes) display cleaner or look less fuzzy on a computer monitor.
As with all creative endeavors, fonts have ownership, and are named according to their use or creator. There are countless styles of fonts available for purchase. Even the fonts included in software packages are licensed and may or may not have restrictions to their use, therefore it is incumbent upon the publisher, author and designer to honor copyright holders or use fonts copyright free through the public domain.

Richifield Renegade Runs strong 4th-Race Results for New York Thoroughbred Bush Grown
While I haven't spoken with Peggy Sprague of Covertdale Farm yet, my impressions during the day were that Richie would run strong. According to the Brisnet report below, Richie broke late from the starting gate but then went on strong to rally less then a horse length behind the winning group.
Today is the second time he has performed less then perfect from the gate. Last year, he seemed to have fewer reasons to misfire.
Last Friday's race, Richie's first start in Finger Lakes this year along with his return to daylight NY racing, resulted in a poor break from the gate. He was reportedly whapped in the head then by the gate crew for some misbehavior.
Race horses are trained, they do not run like cars with drivers where the science of the vehicle is easier to predict.
Like all working race horses, Ritchie is starting to show some wear in his joints.
Having changed trainers three times in less then a year, the opinions on his performance and viability do vary.

"Richfield Renegade" Upstate New York Thoroughbreds - Race Horses in the Bush Running with Cars: Part 1
Yes the son of Saratoga Belle- the great old dam who escaped her flats trainer Dennis Brida, from the Oklahoma training track,-ran down the New York State Northway Rte 87 exit 14 Saratoga, from Henning Road Extension past the Spenser-Trask Yaddo retreat, down through the firs, and onto the south-bound ramp. Belle ran on the pavement with race "tack still in tact", amidst tractor trailers and Toyotas, during a late 1970's Saratoga Race Meet. She did not get hurt and made big headlines that August!
Yes Saratoga Belle ran down, right beside my house as a child, on 27 Concord Drive without my knowing, until years later when Margaret "Peggy" Sprague- a great Millbrook Lady of Horses and the Hunt, my mother-in-law- told me once after she gained Saratoga Belle from the late great Millbrook lady of horses, Lisa Coleman "a horse did indeed run with the cars".
Belle's son Richfield Renegade is running without cars today at Finger Lakes race track in wine country, Western NY. I will not jinx him with a handicap prior to his race - for in an odd twist which can only occur amongst souls sharing common interests, this son of Belle, and Belle our now in the Sprague family again, and after nearly 23 years of horse and human history entwined, it would be much more fun to see, rather than predict what happens next.
Animal's and people's fates are sometimes suspectfully close.

image commentary: fly here - when tractors and trucks talk in the bush
Fly Here
"One day all of the farm vehicles gathered. In the shadow of Bush's war, 911, and the Towers, New Yorkers retreated up our country way, where many hoped to survive with us locals in the bushes."
Here in the bushes, the harsh weather and deprived economies allow junk to survive in view.
Hulks of abandoned metal, scattered across the country - they're the gentle reminders of our grace and mortality. Up here in our country, the tension of 21st century life activates local discussions of the end of the world, but everyday survival still demands our time.
The photographed machines are our own local relics collected and revitalized. The beauty of metal monsters exists in their sculpted expressions, human like in their daily watch of time.
Pictured are: two late 1940's International Trucks, one is a farmers long bed pick up, the other a Sunoco Gas Station Tow Truck, and a 1954 Minneapolis Moline front end loader with rear shaft drive.
