"Richfield Renegade" Upstate New York Thoroughbreds - Race Horses in the Bush Running with Cars: Part 1

Yes the son of Saratoga Belle- the great old dam who escaped her flats trainer Dennis Brida, from the Oklahoma training track,-ran down the New York State Northway Rte 87 exit 14 Saratoga, from Henning Road Extension past the Spenser-Trask Yaddo retreat, down through the firs, and onto the south-bound ramp. Belle ran on the pavement with race "tack still in tact", amidst tractor trailers and Toyotas, during a late 1970's Saratoga Race Meet. She did not get hurt and made big headlines that August!

Yes Saratoga Belle ran down, right beside my house as a child, on 27 Concord Drive without my knowing, until years later when Margaret "Peggy" Sprague- a great Millbrook Lady of Horses and the Hunt, my mother-in-law- told me once after she gained Saratoga Belle from the late great Millbrook lady of horses, Lisa Coleman "a horse did indeed run with the cars".

Belle's son Richfield Renegade is running without cars today at Finger Lakes race track in wine country, Western NY. I will not jinx him with a handicap prior to his race - for in an odd twist which can only occur amongst souls sharing common interests, this son of Belle, and Belle our now in the Sprague family again, and after nearly 23 years of horse and human history entwined, it would be much more fun to see, rather than predict what happens next.

Animal's and people's fates are sometimes suspectfully close.
